Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker from SEGA: A Tribute to the Man in the White Glove

June 26, 2009

Growing up in the 80’s/90’s  2 of my greatest loves have been video games and Michael Jackson.  In 1990 SEGA made a dream come true by releasing a series of games based on Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker film.

Although gameplay varied in different versions, the concept and story remained the same.  Using special powers and dance abilities Michael battled through levels, while rescuing children along the way.

I can’t begin to imagine a world without Michael.  He was a man before his time, and will be remembered long after his time.  Rest in peace MJ.

I remember as a child in the 80’s, the Moonwalker arcade game and a just-different-enough-to-avoid-a-copyright-lawsuit Knight Rider quarter car ride being my two favorite things at the local Hills Department store back in Ironton, Ohio, make that 3 things… a red ICEE drink.
